Summary:The Media Library holds all of the filesand external content you add to thesite to enrich the visitor experience.Your website offers additional content flexibility by allowing you to add many kinds ofMedia to the Media Library for reuse.Like all data collection tools in Drupal, adding Media is as simple as filling out a form.Let’s inspect the available options.
Exercise: Adding Media to the Library
1.ClickManage >> Content >> Media. This is where alist of all Media on your siteappears. Under the Media tab, you can select whether to view all media in aGridorTablelist. Observe that the table providesa bit more detail about eachitem.
2.You can add new Media by clicking the blue+Add mediabutton.
3.Observe there are three media types available.

Skim through the descriptions for an idea of what types are available for you to add. You will only see the Media bundles you have permission to create.
Currently, you have all of the site’s Media bundles available to your user role.
2.4.2 Exercise: Adding a YouTube Video
One type of Media you may need to add to the site is a Video. You can easily embed videos into your Media Library with just a URL link.To add a new video to your Media Library,
1.If you are not already on the Add media item page, get there by navigating toManage >>Content >> Media >> +Add media
2.When you see the list of Media types, chooseVideo
3.The Add Video form will open. In theNamefield, addyour last namefollowed by the wordVideo.
4.ForRemote video URL, visit the Emory YouTube channeland choose avideo you’d like to embed - or use this link: and paste the link into theRemote videoURLfield on the Add Videoform.
You can tag the video by selecting a term from theCategorieslist (notpopulated at the time of the training), or typing in new tags in theTagstextbox.
NOTE: You’ll want to be VERY careful here. Adding a tag is very easy, butcreating duplicate tags (just slightly different from another one) or mis-spellings of keywords is a recipe for long term disaster.
6.Scroll to the bottom and clickSave. You will nowsee your YouTube Video inthe Media library. We will utilize these videos in an upcoming exercise.
2.4.3 Exercise: Adding an Image
Another type of Media you may need to add to the site is an Image. To add a new image to your Media Library,
1.If you are not already on the Add media item page, get there by navigating toManage >>Content >> Media >> +Add media.

.Provide a meaningfulTitle.
4.ClickChoose Fileand upload an image of yourself(or some other imagefrom your computer).
5.In the middle of the image is a cross-hair. Move that to where you think the“scale and crop” would best work.
6.AddAlternative Text.
7.Typically, you would select a Category and addTags.In the tags field, enterthe letter “a” and select a Tag. If the Tag you’re looking for isn’t there, typethe entire word.
8.ClickSave,then click on the image you just createdto view the information.The tag(s) you selected will have numbers after them. These are just the“term ID” which you can ignore.
