Demographics / User Characteristics

  • Typically a graduate student, sometimes undergraduate honors student
  • Usually nearing completion of degree program; preparing to leave Emory
  • Is the content creator
  • Familiarity with subject area and departmental faculty work
  • May have search experience in repository
  • Works with Academic Program Deposit Mediator and potentially Library Deposit Supervisor, if submitting an ETD

Frequency and Type of Repository Deposit Use

  • Typically just once
  • Self-Deposit

General Motivators / Goals

  • Fulfill graduation requirements from their respective schools/programs
  • Share their scholarship with the campus and wider academic community

Key Deposit Tasks

  • Describe their ETD and/or research data
  • Upload their ETD and/or research data files
  • Set and maintain embargo/access for their ETD and/or research data files
  • Obtain a stable link to their ETD and/or research data
  • Resuming a deposit than began in a prior session

Repository Content / Information Desired

  • Guidance on performing a successful deposit (workflow and digital preservation)
  • Verification of successful deposit or notification about changes needed
  • Verification of publication (post-graduation)
  • Analytics / metrics of deposited works’ usage
  • Policies, help, etc.

Type of Material Deposited

  • Textual information (PDF, MS Office formats)
  • Still images, audio, video - regular and increasing
