Scope
Website coordination and governance
The Web Content Strategist (Colin Bragg, cbragg@emory.edu) is the website program manager, and via the Web Content Governance Subcommittee coordinates:
Consistency in branding, tone, and language across sites
Content updates and revisions
New page additions
Drupal training
Enhancement request development
Quality assurance testing for site updates and enhancements
Web Content Governance Subcommittee
The Emory Libraries Web Content Governance Subcommittee reports to the Emory Libraries Content Strategy Committee - both are sponsored by the Director of Marketing & Engagement.
This subcommittee focuses on developing and maintaining clear and consistent workflows, communication plans, and content strategies to help stakeholders across the libraries better manage, maintain, and update their website content.
The Web Content Strategist chairs the subcommittee.
Subcommittee members are dubbed “content czars,” the individuals who represent large content areas (ex. The Woodruff Library Access and Resource Services division) or oversee their respective sites. Czars coordinate work with subject matter experts (SMEs), staff who have permissions for specific pages.
The Web Content Governance Subcommittee charter and content czar list are available in the Emory Libraries Staff folder in SharePoint. An Emory NetID required for login.
Drupal training and other resources
Training for Emory Libraries employees who maintain and edit library website content is handled by the Web Content Strategist, Colin Bragg. Contact Colin directly with training requests: cbragg@emory.edu
Written Drupal procedures and training videos are available in the Web Content Governance SharePoint folder. Emory NetID required for login.
Answers to many questions about Drupal are available in the Acquia Support Portal.
Website Maintenance
Day-to-day changes and maintenance
Appointed content czars and subject matter experts (SMEs) handle the most frequent, page-level content changes.
Website bugs and general requests
If you are experiencing an error with the site or are having difficulty editing content, send an email to 78888@emory.edu detailing the issue. The email automatically becomes a ticket in ServiceNow, and the support team will route the ticket to either the web content or front-end developer teams.
Content updates and revisions
While some website content clean up and revision projects are initiated by the Web Content Strategist, responsibility for regularly reviewing and requesting updates to existing content falls to content czars and SMEs.
Clean-up and revision projects
To minimize the impact on website users, major website change projects, particularly those that effect the website’s information architecture and functionality, are enacted during either intersessions or summer sessions.
Page deletions and menu structure revisions
To maintain the integrity of the website’s information architecture and allow for controlled growth, adding, deleting, and rearranging pages must be done in consultation with the Emory Libraries Web Content Strategist, Colin Bragg.
Contact Colin, cbragg@emory.edu, to initiate such changes. He will manage the process in consultation with you and relevant stakeholders.
Adding new pages
New page requests are managed on a case-by-case basis. Send new page requests to Colin Bragg, cbragg@emory.edu.
Enhancement and maintenance schedule
The websites are one program of many managed by the Digital Programs and Client Services department. Enhancement and maintenance sprints occur three times a year.
The Web Content Strategist works closely with LTDS front-end developers during these enhancement sprints, testing options and performing QA with the help of content czars.
