Standardized Staff Technology Equipment

Emory University Libraries and Museum has implemented standardized technology equipment for all staff to enhance purchasing efficiency and streamline support. Each staff member will receive the following:

• Laptop: Choice of Dell or Apple

• Docking Station/Hub

• Monitor(s): One large monitor or two smaller monitors

• Keyboard and Mouse

Departmental/Shared Machines

Departmental or shared machines are typically desktop computers, as they are used by multiple staff members. These machines also adhere to established technology standards, including Dell or Apple workstations.

Equipment Refresh and Allocation

• Refresh Cycle: Staff equipment is refreshed every four years to ensure up-to-date technology.

• Reallocation for New Staff: New staff members are typically assigned equipment from their predecessor if it is still covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.

Purchasing and Support

The Technology Support and Training Team collaborates with staff and hiring managers to facilitate the purchase of new equipment as needed. New employee equipment requests are automatically created as part of the HR Onboarding Process when the background check of the new employee has been completed.
