Owning Institution

Controlled name for institution which is holding/taking care of the object. Typically “Emory University” unless the content is held by another organization, but is stored in Emory’s repository.

Holding Repository

The Emory Library/organization that is holding/taking care of the object, noted at the Library level (or major Emory unit level).
Example: Rose Library
Administrative Unit

Sub-unit within the Holding Repository that is holding/taking care of the object, if applicable.
Example: University Archives
Collection Steward
The creator, liaison, or sponsor of the collection.
Collection Name
The name given to the intellectual grouping of the objects as identified by the collection steward.
Collection description
A brief description of the collection.
Content types

The content types included within the collection as stored in the repository, as defined using the Primary Emory Content Types Terminology document.
Formats
Lists the mimetypes or, where mimetypes are unavailable, the file extensions of the objects’ master copies.
Storage size
The amount of space needed to store the collection, provided in megabytes (MB).
Object count
The total number of objects within the collection.
Object storage and dissemination locations
The location in which the collection’s objects are currently stored.
Possible values include (pick all that apply):
- Preservation repository. One of the existing applications using Fedora.
- Networked storage device (replicated). An Emory University LITS provided storage mount that might be attached to a server. The storage is being replicated to both the NDB and White Street data centers.
- Networked storage device (non-replicated). An Emory University LITS provided storage mount that might be attached to a server or a computer. The storage is only in the NDB data center.
- Physical storage device. An external storage device (hard drive, thumb drive, etc.)
- Third party storage device. Some third-party storage not physically held by Emory University.
- HathiTrust. A third-party dissemination service.
- Internet Archive. A third-party dissemination service.
- CLOCKSS. A third-party preservation service.
Has Descriptive metadata
Documents whether a descriptive metadata review has been performed on the objects in the collection.
Has rights
Documents whether a rights review has been performed on the objects in the collection.
End user access level
The extent to which end users can access the objects in the collection. Possible values include:
- General access
- Emory-only access
- Custom access
- No access
Collection status
Collections where the number of objects are:
- Growing. New objects are added to the collection at intervals.
- Stable. A collection is accessible and used, but objects aren't being added to the collection at a significant rate.
- Decommissioned. No longer actively used or maintained.
Proportion
The scope of the digital objects in relation to its larger collection. Information about this might be contained in the summary section of the Selection Form.
